New Year 7 Welcome

Welcome to Bonus Pastor!

We hope that this finds you, your child and your families safe and well during this difficult and challenging time.

We're really excited to get to know you and your families, and to help induct you properly into our outstanding college.

In September we always pay special attention to our new Year 7s, and more so this year than ever before.

We have decided to slightly stagger the start of term in September, with different year groups starting at different times, in order to allow us to meet with all of those pupils and outline the new procedures moving forwards. It also allows us time to have a full induction day with Year 7s, to ensure they feel welcome and get to know our school.

Year 7s will be required in school on Thursday 3rd September from 8:45am to 3:15pm in our Churchdown Site.

They will need to wear full school uniform and bring all of their equipment.     They will NOT need their PE Kit.

They will then remain at home on Friday 4th September (to allow us time to see other year groups), before starting full time on Monday 7th September

For more information about our re-opening plans, please see our COVID19 page here.

COVID19 Updates

We will have an opening House induction assembly where your child will receive their prestigious house tie. Your child will also be given ample time to get used to their new school with longer lunch breaks and class buddies to show them around. We also plan to hold a year 7 ‘How’s it going’ evening early in the Autumn term when circumstances and government guidelines permit us, so that we can finally get to meet you as parents and carers.

We are really looking forward to meeting your child and welcoming you all into the Bonus Pastor Catholic College family. We will write again soon regarding our Summer School plans and our plans for September, so please look out for our letters, emails via Parentmail, continue to check the website, and please continue to read the Pastorale.

The Pastorale (The school Newsletter).

Virtual Induction:

To try and ensure a smooth transition, and to help prepare you and your child to join us, we feel we have done the next best thing and have made a video for you and your child which shares vital information and gives you an opportunity to meet the key staff in your child’s school life, albeit virtually.

Welcome From All of Us Here At Bonus Pastor

A Virtual Tour of Our School

A Quick Student Friendly Guide:

Please make sure you watch the three videos, and read through the handbook which you should have received by post, or can be downloaded here, with your child. There is also an additional photo guide which could be downloaded and printed out to work with your child if you find that helpful.

Please feel free to send any questions into us here at the school by contacting the Head of Year 7 Miss Winder at

Code Breaking Competition:

To help your child learn more about Bonus Pastor, why not complete our Induction Website Code Breaking Challenge! (Which can be downloaded from the bottom of this page) Explore our website to find the answers to the clues, and see if they can solve the puzzle at the bottom. Once completed, send your answers to Miss Winder at WinderC@bp.lewisham.sch.uk

Everyone who enters will earn themselves their first house points towards their house, and a winner will be drawn at random to receive a prize!

All About Me Activity

We'd love to know a bit more about your child from them! Their likes and dislikes, hobbies and interests, and anything they are excited or worried about in September, so that we can help them to settle in as quickly as possible, whilst also getting them involved in enrichment and extra-curricular activities. Your child has a maximum of 1 page to tell us all about them in any way they like, whether that's through drawing, making a collage, writing a story or poem or creating something on the PC.

You can either email your finished page/ a photo of it to Miss Winder at the email address below, or post it to us, again at the address below.

Summer School Activities:

We are also planning to run a series of Year 7 summer activities in the last week of the summer holidays (provisionally the Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th August) where we hope to invite your child in to make up for the lost transition day this term. I am sure you understand this is subject to change based on updated government guidance. If you are interested in your child attending these summer activities, please can I ask that you complete the online form at the bottom of this page to register your interest by Friday 31st July at the latest, and we will be in touch as soon as we have more details.

School Uniform:

Uniform can be purchased from our supplier, Whitehall Clothiers in Lewisham. They are currently offering:

  • An online click and collect system, in which you order online and then collect in store
  • An online ordering system with delivery to your home

You are also welcome to pop into store to return or exchange any items.

Unfortunately, due to COVID19 affecting their production and supply, they currently have very limited stock of the Year 7 grey jumpers. If you are unable to get one of these for September do not worry, a shirt and blazer will be sufficient, and you can place an order ready for when they are back in stock.

Please also note that from September girls will be allowed to wear trousers if they choose to, or can wear a skirt.

Free School Meals:

If your child is currently eligible for free school meals, please can we ask that you re-apply with Lewisham in preparation for their transition with us.

If you haven't previously been eligible, but your circumstances and family finances have recently changed due to COVID19, we would strongly encourage you to apply to see if you are eligible. It is free and takes 5 - 10 minutes online to complete, and could result in your child not only being eligible for free school meals, but also extra subsidies towards trips, music lessons and other activities within school.  Please see the link below or downloadable document for more information.

You can apply online at: https://lewisham.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals
