September

In September we always pay special attention to our new Year 7s.

Every year we slightly stagger the start of term in September, with different year groups starting at different times, in order to allow us time to have a full induction day with Year 7s, to ensure they feel welcome and get to know our school.

Monday 2nd September is a teacher training / inset day.

  • Year 7s will be required in school on Tuesday 3rd September from 8:20am at Churchdown but we will finish at 12pm in Winlaton.
  • They will need to wear full school uniform and bring all of their equipment.
  • They will NOT need their PE Kit.

On their first day, we will have an opening House induction assembly where your child will receive their prestigious house tie and be welcomed into their House family. Your child will also be given ample time to get used to their new school with longer lunch breaks and class buddies to show them around.

Wednesday 4th September will then be a normal school day with Years 8, 9 and 10 in as well, and pupils will be following their new timetables for lessons, and the day will finish at 3:05pm.

Please watch our welcome video below that will introduce you to some key people!

Why not get ahead and explore our school virtually via our video tour below!

We do have 2 buildings that students need to move between, and this can be scary at first! However it's nothing to worry about, and see our short video below which walks you through the route!

There is also an additional photo guide which could be downloaded and printed out to work with your child if you find that helpful.

Free School Meals

Free School Meals:

If your child is currently eligible for free school meals, please can we ask that you re-apply with Lewisham in preparation for their transition with us. This ensures that your child's status is up to date.

If you haven't previously been eligible, but your circumstances and family finances have recently changed, we would strongly encourage you to apply to see if you are eligible.

It is free and takes 5 - 10 minutes online to complete, and could result in your child not only being eligible for free school meals, but also extra subsidies towards trips, music lessons and other activities within school.

Please see the link below or the downloadable document for more information.
