Bonus Pastor Catholic College hosted an event on Monday, July 10th to celebrate the end of another successful year for its STEM partnership with six local primary schools.

The event, which was attended by 170 students from St Augustine's, St William of York, Our Lady and St. Philip Neri, Beecroft Garden, Holy Cross, and St Joseph's Catholic Primary schools, featured a variety of hands-on STEM activities, including water rocket launches and giant bubble making.

Forty year 8 Bonus Pastor students served as STEM helpers for the day, providing support and guidance to the primary school students. The STEM helpers were also supported by the college's science department team.

Clare Warren, regional advisor for the Ogden Trust, also attended the event and ran drop-in sessions on the subject of working scientifically for the primary science coordinators and teaching staff in attendance.

To reward the year 8 STEM helpers for their contribution, the day concluded with the watermelon challenge.

The event was a great success and helped to foster a love of STEM among the primary school students. It also provided an opportunity for the Bonus Pastor students to share their knowledge and skills with their younger peers.
