Commemorating VE Day:

During the first week of May, our History Society students participated in a special session commemorating the 80th anniversary of VE Day. This insightful session saw students analyse two distinct historical perspectives of the event, fostering a deeper understanding of its complexities. They also engaged in a thoughtful discussion about how memory and commemoration are shaped and evolve over time, highlighting the dynamic nature of historical understanding.

A huge well done to all the students involved, who approached the session with remarkable curiosity and empathy.

Exploring the Churchill War Rooms:

Later in May, History Society students from Years 7 to 9 embarked on a fascinating visit to the Churchill War Rooms in central London. Stepping into this secret underground headquarters, they explored the very rooms where pivotal decisions shaping Britain's role in the Second World War were made.

Pupils delved into the Churchill Museum and utilised an audio guide to navigate the labyrinthine rooms and uncover the compelling stories held within this immensely important historical site. Their engagement brought the past to life.

We commend all the students who attended for representing Bonus Pastor with such exemplary conduct and enthusiasm.
