Dear Parents/Carers,

The Year 9 mid-year assessments will take place in January. The assessment window begins on the 12th January 2026 and will end in early February (taking into account subjects which are taught once over the 2 week timetable). 

Assessments for the four core subjects—English, Maths, Science and RE—and the EBacc subjects—History, Geography and MFL—will be completed as a year group in the main hall during the first week of assessments, as part of our early preparation for Key Stage 4 examinations. All other assessments will take place in subject classrooms throughout the assessment period.

To support students with planning and revision, a link to the assessment timetable has been included with this letter and uploaded to students’ Google Classrooms, the Student Information Centre, and the school website.

The mid-year assessments will be used to identify any misconceptions from the first term's learning. Subject areas have uploaded topic and revision lists to students Google Classroom. This information will provide support for all students as they prepare for their assessments. As always, we ask for students to try their best and work to the best of their ability during this time.
