Year 7 and 8 mid-year assessment from 01/12/2025
BackDear Parents/Carers,
Year 7 and Year 8 will complete their mid-year assessments later this term, beginning on 01/12/2025.
Assessments in the four core subjects (English, Maths, Science and RE) and the EBacc subjects (History, Geography and MFL) will take place as a year group in the main hall during the first week. This gives students a calm and structured experience of completing assessments in a larger space. All other subject assessments will take place in classrooms over the following two weeks. A small number of non-core assessments will take place before the main assessment window due to timetabling requirements, and these arrangements will be communicated directly to the relevant classes.
To support students with planning and revision, we have included a link to the full assessment timetable with this letter. It has also been uploaded to Google Classroom, the Student Information Centre and the school website. Students will also find helpful revision resources on their individual subject Google Classrooms and subject webpages.
The mid-year assessments help teachers identify any misconceptions from the first term and plan the most appropriate next steps in learning. Each subject has uploaded topic lists and revision guidance to Google Classroom, and we encourage students to use these as they prepare. As always, we ask students to try their best and approach their assessments with confidence and a positive attitude.
