Pond Revamp Success on Playing Fields!
BackWe are delighted to share news of a significant and much-needed intervention at the pond located on our school playing fields last week.
Taking advantage of the unseasonably dry conditions, a team of dedicated volunteers carried out a comprehensive clean-up and revamp of the pond area.
We extend a huge thank you to Harry Foreshaw, Kat Richards and Billy Ward, volunteers from the charity Froglife, who led the effort. They successfully removed several large objects that posed a serious risk to wildlife, including old goal posts, a sled, and various other plastic items.
The team also worked hard to cut back overgrown plants, allowing more light and space for native species to thrive.
The presence of plastic and debris was a direct risk to the biodiversity of the pond. This fantastic intervention will undoubtedly lead to a healthier ecosystem.
