The subject is divided into three main units which are subdivided further into smaller sub-units.
Unit A291: Marketing and Enterprise
Unit A292: Business and People
- The structure of business activity,
- The workforce in business.
Unit A293: Production, Finance and the External Business Environment
- Using and managing resources to produce goods and services,
- Financial information and decision making,
- External influences on business activity.
Assessment of Course:
The course is assessed using:
- Two written examinations (75%)
- One Controlled Assessment (25%)
It would suit those interested in the world of Economics, Business and Finance. Candidates need to be well organised, good at working alone, taking exams and completing controlled assessment to a deadline.
Progression from this Examination:
Progression to further study from GCSE will depend upon the grades achieved. Candidates who are awarded grades D to G at GCSE could take qualifications like BTEC Level 2 courses and candidates who are awarded grades A* to C at GCSE could study AS levels or BTEC Level 3 courses.
Business Studies can lead directly to work or into college. Typical industries to work in would include Retail, Administration, Finance/Banking, Construction administration, Local Authority and Public Services. Typical subjects at college might include Economics, Business, Geography, Law and Sociology.
