Year 7 Geography - Beckenham Place Park
Field Trip Overview
Ms Adade and Ms Stanislaus led a group of 30 Year 7 students to investigate microclimates in a workshop run by the Field Studies Council (FSC) at Beckenham Place park.
Key Areas of Investigation:
- What is a microclimate?
- What are the various factors affecting microclimates?
- What can be measurable in the local environment.
- How are humans impacting Beckenham Place Park?
Measurements & Equipment:
Students measured light intensity (using a Lux meter); wind speed (using a anemometer); direction (using bubbles and a compass); temperature (using a thermometer), and cloud cover (using a quadrat) at five different locations around the park.

Acknowledgements:
Special thanks to Laura (from FSC) and Ms Stanislaus (Maths teacher) for their incredible support on the day.
Well done to all Year 7 students for their engagement and enthusiasm despite the rain in the afternoon!
